In the days approaching World Accessibility Awareness Day, Samsung has once again shown its commitment to increasing users’ access to various services and products. This time, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has come to the aid of hearing-impaired people, so that with the help of these headphones, they can hear the sounds of their environment better and enjoy it. Samsung has improved the ambient sound feature of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro or the transparency mode during an update.
Creating accessible and inclusive technologies
The Ambient Sound feature in the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro headphones can help those with mild to moderate hearing loss to hear ambient sounds better. Until now, users could amplify the sound of their environment in three customizable levels and be aware of the events around them. Now, with the improvement of this feature, two new levels have been added to it, so that the levels available to users to improve the ambient sound will reach five levels.
Evaluations related to the efficiency and performance of this feature have been conducted during a clinical trial at the University of Iowa Hearing and Aging Research Laboratory. During this research, it was found that Galaxy Buds 2 Pro effectively improves speech understanding in people with mild to moderate hearing loss. In addition, a similar test at the Samsung Medical Center confirmed the effectiveness of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro in helping the hearing impaired. In this test, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro was recognized as a useful and practical tool for communicating with this group of people in a quiet environment.
Access to new levels of personalization
The enhancement of the ambient sound feature gives Galaxy Buds 2 Pro users the opportunity to optimize the settings of this feature based on their diverse needs. Users can adjust the volume in order from left to right and in addition optimize and personalize their ambient sound range in five different levels from slow to transparent level.
This feature has another feature called Adapt Ambient Sound, which helps users hear the sound around them more clearly.
Han Gil Moon, Head of Advanced Sound Lab of Samsung Mobile Experience Department, said: “We are very happy that on World Accessibility Awareness Day, we can introduce the advanced and improved functionality of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro to our users. This work will continue so that every user can experience the best possible sound with Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at any time and place.”
The enhanced surround sound feature will roll out to Galaxy Buds 2 Pro users gradually over the coming weeks via software updates.
