Rumor: Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro will be released with a larger screen and a periscopic camera

It seems that Apple will use a larger screen and a periscopic camera in the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Apparently, none of the models of the iPhone 15 series will have an increase in screen size this year. It is also said that only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with a periscope camera. Now, Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the well-known technology analysts, has said that next year, in addition to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 will also use a periscope camera.

The iPhone 16 Pro will get a periscope camera

According to rumors, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with a periscope camera on its back panel this year. These types of cameras use an internal prism that reflects light at a 90 degree angle to several internal lenses to reach the camera sensor. This feature will increase the length of the lens compared to a normal telephoto lens and provide better optical zoom.

It is not yet known whether Apple intends to compete with the 10x zoom of the S23 Ultra or, according to some analysts, it will use a 6x zoom. In any case, what seems certain is that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will use this technology this year.

Ming-Chi Ku says that the iPhone 15 Pro will be without this camera this year, but in 2024, the iPhone 16 Pro model will be released with this camera. This analyst also claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a larger screen, citing several informed sources. This allows Apple to use the periscope camera in the Pro model in addition to the Pro Max model.

Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro is equipped with a 6.1-inch screen and the iPhone 14 Pro Max is equipped with a 6.7-inch screen, and the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are also expected to use these screens. We still don’t know what the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro models will be, but Ko believes that Cowell will be the main supplier of the periscope camera for the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Apple’s mixed reality headset

In the continuation of his report, Ko has also published information about Apple’s mixed reality headset. While this headset is supposed to be introduced at the WWDC 2023 conference, apparently Apple is already working on its second generation. The first Apple handset will cost around 3,000, but the second generation will be an economic model with a lower price.

Ko believes that Apple will have two mixed reality headsets on the market by 2025, and that the second generation will sell about 10 times more than the first generation.
